An appeal to practitioners working with bilingual children
BILINGUALISM IS THE NORM, ALTHOUGH IT IS CONNECTED NOT ONLY WITH BENEFITS BUT ALSO WITH CHALLENGES
On 9th December 2021 a group of 23 Polish researchers working in the areas of multilingualism, child development, language acquisition and learning, speech & language disorders, and related topics, announced an appeal to all professionals dealing with bi- and multilingual children, which points to the basic facts about bilingual development that – as we are convinced – scientists around the world agree on. The aim of the appeal is to disseminate evidence based knowledge about bilingualism and to prevent the spread of false information on this topic, especially among professionals either working in Poland or with children acquiring Polish as one of their languages.
