EEG Workshops start on 10th November!
Launching the EEG lab
The aim of launching the EEG Lab at Dobra 55 was to drive excellence in future research in linguistics, to train linguists in psychological methods, and to further develop the expertise of the researchers involved in the IDUB initiative, as well as students and Ph.D. candidates from our faculties. For this reason, we have organized a series of workshops devoted to the theory and practice of EEG research. These will take place at Dobra 55 every month.
The first three workshops will present EEG basics, including the basics behind the analysis of so-called ERPs (i.e. event-related potentials). They will be given by Dr. Kalinka Timmer from the Psychology Department (University of Warsaw) at 11.30 AM at Dobra 55, room 1016, 1st floor. The schedule is as follows.
Autumn/winter 2022 – a practical introduction
- 11.2022 – The electrophysiology (EEG) of language
- 12.2022 – From EEG to ERP (Event-Related Potentials)
- 01.2023 – Interpreting ERP components
Spring summer 2023 – hands-on sessions
- the data acquisition protocol, electrode placement, and troubleshooting during the experiment
- designing and replicating a study with a focus on one of the linguistic ERP components
- running the study together in spring 2023.
All the events planned for the EEG Lab will be announced here. For more information, please contact the lab directly at eeglab.dobra55@uw.edu.pl.
