The Multilingualism Research Hub at BREAKTHROUGHS

This week, the annual Breakthroughs conference begins – a vibrant forum bringing together scholars from across the humanities and social sciences. The event will take place on 16-17 October 2025 in the Modern Languages building at the University of Warsaw.
For the first time, each day will begin with a keynote lecture:
- Esther de Smet (Ghent University): Co-creating a healthy impact culture
- Matt Coler (University of Groningen): Speaking Machines and Living Languages
📍 Full programme and details are available here: Conference website
We’re proud to share that the Multilingualism Research Hub (Multi-R-Hub) will take part in the conference with several presentations highlighting current research on bilingualism, multilingualism and language processing.
Some of the presentations include:
- K. Timmer / K. Broś / A. Otwinowska: Timing Language. What EEG Reveals About Successful Communication
- U. Pawelec / A. Borzym / A. Otwinowska: How Are Different Words Processed When Reading Longer Texts in English? An Eye-Tracking Study
- K. Ogrodniczek / K. Czopek / A. Kałdonek: Perceptions of Bilingualism and Multilingualism Among Medical and Speech Professionals Working with Children with Neurodevelopmental Conditions
We warmly invite everyone to attend these sessions and explore the latest research conducted within our Hub – research that bridges cognitive, social, and educational perspectives on multilingualism.
