Launching Multi-R-Hub

Launching Multi-R-Hub

We are now launching the activities of Multilingualism Research Hub. The inaugural meeting will take place at 12.00 on 14th January 2022. We are meeting at Dobra 55 in room 3014 (3rd floor). We invite the multilingualism research community to a brief introduction of the Multi-R-Hub with a presentation of our labs, a scheme for meetings in the next semester and ideas for collaboration opportunities. Next, we will listen to a fascinating lecture by dr Katarzyna Wojtylak, a post-doctoral researcher in IDUB projects II 3.2 and II. 3.7.

A description of her talk “Linguistic Research Skills – experiences from the Amazon” is presented below:

How does one proceed when engaging with people at their field site without a common language? In this talk, I will introduce the idea of fieldwork conducted in areas where non‐written and lesser‐known languages are spoken, in particular those of the Amazon. In addition to discussing the practical methods for language learning and linguistic documentation, I will also focus on the importance of speaking local languages when conducting research in remote areas of the world.
